Hotel Information : Reception (open 08:00 - 00:00) is set within the oldest part of the hostel, the Gardyne building, which dates back to 1560 and is the finest remaining example of late Medieval architecture in the city. It stands in an ancient courtyard which is now covered by a luminous glass roof. Other parts of the hostel date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
For your convenience, the hostel has a TV lounge with satellite channels, internet access, laundry facilities and a pool room. There is also a large meeting/conference room which can be pre-booked for events, lectures and conferences.
On arrival you will be given a key which enables you to access your room and the main building, so you are free to come and go as you please.
Food & Beverages : The hostel offers breakfast each morning in the dining room. Alternatively, you can use the self-catering kitchen.
Travel Information : From Dundee Rail Station:
- Exit the station and turn left onto Union Street.
- At the top of the street turn right onto Nethergate and continue on leading into High Street.
- Dundee Backpackers Hostel is on your left just past Reform Street and opposite the Caird Hall.
From Seagate Bus Station
- Exit the station onto Seagate Street, heading west.
- Follow the street directly onto the High Street.
- Dundee Backpackers Hostel is on your right, 200 yards down the High Street, opposite the Caird Hall.
Short description : Set within 5 beautifully restored period buildings, one of which dates back to the 16th century, this unique hostel offers a selection of private rooms on Dundee’s bustling High Street.
Centrally located, the Dundee Backpackers boasts the pedestrianised centre, with numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs, right on its doorstep. Within walking distance you can visit popular attractions such as Discovery Point, Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre and McManus Galleries. Furthermore, the bus and train stations are both within a 5-minute walk of the hostel.
Each building reflects the style and character of the time in which it was built. There are feature fireplaces, plaster cornices and windows of all shapes and sizes. All of the buildings even have their own little ‘museum’ full of information and artefacts from the buildings' history.
Cancelation Policy : Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
